Following reports that some children start school without even knowing their name, Jean Gross, the Communication Champion, recently (on July 28th 2011) appeared on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme and BBC Radio Five Live’s Victoria Derbyshire show to discuss the issue. We were very pleased that she stressed that some children have a specific difficulty with speech and language. The Victoria Derbyshire show also featured a contribution from Kamini Gadhok, the Chief Executive of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists, as well as phone calls and other comments from parents and teachers. A number of newspapers and websites also included articles on the subject and received several comments in reply, some of which make interesting reading.
