Prof Dorothy Bishop talks about DLD - Afasic

In this recording of the 2016/7 IJLCD Winter lecture, Dorothy Bishop introduces the new term DLD (Developmental Language Disorder) and explains why it should replace SLI (Specific Language Impairment).

In her role as Professor of Developmental Neuropsychology at the University of Oxford, Dorothy specialises in the study of language impairments in children and is a Vice-President of Afasic.

She led the CATALISE project which considered a range of problems around the identification and diagnosis of language impairments and recommended the introduction of the term DLD. Watch this lecture to learn more about the work of the CATALISE project.
