sponsorships and donations
Afasic relies on voluntary donations to enable it to maintain
and develop services for children and young adults who have
speech and language impairments and their families.
Opportunities for sponsorship and services that need support
include the following:
Publications
- Members newsletter £3,000 per issue (three a year) - sent to our 2,000+ members
- Annual review £2,500 - sent to all supporters of Afasic and with applications for funding
- A range of information leaflets and booklets from £250 to £4,000
Afasic Website - updating,
maintaining and developing at £6,000 per year.
Training Roadshows - for parents and professionals,
to raise knowledge and skills so that they are better able
to help these children and young people at home and in the
classroom. Each training course costs about £5,000.
The Afasic Helpline - this is a key service and costs
about £750 a week to operate.
Summer Schools - aimed at children facing the move
from primary to secondary schools. These week-long courses
have been successfully piloted and we now want to roll them
out across the country. They offer children the opportunity
to improve their organisational, social and life skills; as
well as arming them with strategies for dealing with situations
like bullying. Those attending are better placed to cope with
the increased demands of the secondary school environment.
Each week costs £4,000 to organise and run.
Activities for Children and Young People -
Afasic organises a range of events that enable children and
young people to take part in activities with their peers that
will otherwise have difficulty accessing due to their problems
with communication. These include art and craft workshops,
sports sessions, day trips etc. Costs work out at about £750
per session.
International Symposium - a range of sponsorship opportunities
are available for this international event that is taking
place in April 2007 at Warwick University. This is the fourth
such event that Afasic has organised for the dissemination
of latest research findings from across Europe, America, and
other parts of the world. Sponsorship of the whole event is
available at £25,000 or individual packages from £1,000 upwards,
please contact Afasic for details.
These are just a few of the main areas that we are looking
for support in; please do contact us to discuss other possibilities.
We are happy to recognise the support of donors and sponsors
on publications, in our newsletter and annual review.
