Volunteers

Volunteers

Volunteers play a vital role in many aspects of the organisation and the services that it provides. From the Trustee Board, to local groups, to our telephone helpline and central administration we rely on the hard work of volunteers to ensure the smooth running of the organisation.

Depending on where you live and your skills/experience, there are many ways in which you can help us by giving us some of your time.

If you live within reach of central London then you could help out at our central office, either on a regular basis or on a more infrequent basis when we need extra help. We are normally looking for help with general administrative work, mailouts, fundraising, data input etc. so if you have some office skills and would like to put them to good use, please do get in touch.

We are also looking for volunteers for our telephone helpline so that we can consolidate and expand this vital service. If you have some relevant experience and/or are a parent of a child with speech and language impairment then do contact us. You will need to undergo a period of training and be prepared to make a regular commitment (normally 1 day a week during term-time).

For those in other parts of the UK we have a network of local groups that are often looking for help with various activities and events so please do contact us and we can put you in touch with the nearest one.

Please note that these roles do not usually involve direct contact with children.

Whatever kind of volunteering you're interested in, please contact in the first instance:

Mark Thompson or Chris Clarke at Afasic central office
1st Floor, 20 Bowling Green Lane, London ECR 0BD

Tel. 020 7490 9410 or email

Thank you for your interest.
