Self-Advocacy Training Programme: Speaking Up
Following a very successful training weekend at York University last month, Afasic England has announced it will be running another training event over a weekend in the autumn of 2015 in Southern England.
We are looking for professionals who are working with the 11-16 age group and who on completion of the training weekend can go back to their work settings and deliver self-advocacy sessions to a group of young people who have speech, language and communication difficulties. You may be working in an educational setting or an out of school environment.
The training is free, at the end of which you will receive a manual and on-going mentoring support.
Afasic will provide expenses to cover the cost of your travel and accommodation on the training weekend. In addition there will be a small grant available to support the sessions that you run with your group of young people.
Places are very limited – if you would like to express your interest then please email Tony Curtis with a brief outline of yourself and area of work.
We have workshop presentations from our Voice for Life series available for free download.
