Suggested wording for leaving a gift to Afasic in your Will

To make a gift to Afasic in your Will, we suggest that you use an appropriate form of words. Some examples are given below.
If you have any doubts about how to leave your gift, your Solicitor should be able to help.

To leave a fixed sum to Afasic:

I give the following charitable legacy absolutely to Afasic, Charity Number 1045617, of 2nd Floor, 50-52 Great Sutton Street, London EC1V 0DJ, the sum of £........ for the general purposes of the charity and I direct that a receipt of the Honorary Treasurer or other authorised officer for the time being of the charity shall be a good and sufficient discharge to my Executors for the payment to this legatee.

(Note: Where a gift is made for a specific purpose, then the condition under which the legacy is made should be described in the Will.)

To leave a fixed sum to Afasic, and another fixed sum to another charity:

I give the following charitable legacies absolutely:

(1) to Afasic, Charity Number 1045617, of 2nd Floor, 50-52 Great Sutton Street, London EC1V 0DJ the sum of £....................

(2) to (name of other charity) etc.

In each case for the general purposes of the charity and with the full power to expend capital as income for such purposes and I direct that a receipt of the Honorary Treasurer or other authorised officer for the time being of the charity shall be a good and sufficient discharge to my Executors for the payment to each of the above named legatees.

(Note: Where a gift is made for a specific purpose, then the condition under which the legacy is made should be described in the Will.)

If you already have a Will, you can add a gift to Afasic without having to change the Will -- it's called a Codicil.

If your Will doesn't mention any gifts to charity, use these words:

I, ............................................. (name of testator)

of .................................(address)

declare this to be a first (second, etc.) Codicil to my Will dated and made (date of Will).

I give the following charitable legacies absolutely:

(1) to Afasic, Charity Number 1045617, of 2nd Floor, 50-52 Great Sutton Street, London EC1V 0DJ the sum of £....................

(2) to (name of other charity, if you wish to give to another charity as well) etc.

In each case for the general purposes of the charity and with the full power to expend capital as income for such purposes and I direct that a receipt of the Honorary Treasurer or other authorised officer for the itme being of the charity shall be a good and sufficient discharge to my Executors for the payment to each of the above named legatees.

(Note: Where a gift is made for a specific purpose, then the condition under which the legacy is made should be described in the Will.)

In all other respects I confirm my said Will.

In witness whereof I have hereto set my hand this (date). Signed by the above-named as a first (or second, etc.) Codicil to his (or her) Will dated
(date): ...................................(your signature).

In the presence of us both present together at the same time who at his (or her) request and in his (or her) presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses:

First witness's signature............................................
Name...............................................................
Occupation................................
Address........................

Second witness's signature............................................
Name...............................................................
Occupation................................
Address........................

If your Will already has other gifts to charity which you want to keep, you can simply add the following Codicil:

I, ............................................. (name of testator)

of .................................(address)

declare this to be a first (second, etc.) Codicil to my Will dated and made (date of Will).

In addition to the legacies given by my said Will, I give the following charitable legacies absolutely:

(1) to Afasic, Charity Number 1045617, of 2nd Floor, 50-52 Great Sutton Street, London EC1V 0DJ the sum of £....................

(2) to (name of other charity) etc.

In each case for the general purposes of the charity and with the full power to expend capital as income for such purposes and I direct that a receipt of the Honorary Treasurer or other authorised officer for the itme being of the charity shall be a good and sufficient discharge to my Executors for the payment to each of the above named legatees.

(Note: Where a gift is made for a specific purpose, then the condition under which the legacy is made should be described in the Codicil.)

In all other respects I confirm my said Will.

In witness whereof I have hereto set my hand this (date). Signed by the above-named as a first (or second, etc.) Codicil to his (or her) Will dated
(date): ...................................(your signature).

In the presence of us both present together at the same time who at his (or her) request and in his (or her) presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses:

First witness's signature............................................
Name...............................................................
Occupation................................
Address........................

Second witness's signature............................................
Name...............................................................
Occupation................................
Address........................
