The Children and Families Bill, which will introduce a new SEN system in England, has now completed its third reading in the House of Commons and will shortly be moving to the House of Lords. In the past, it has often been the Lords who have made important changes to SEN legislation, so if you know anybody who is a member, please let us know so that we can brief them.

In the meantime, remember that until the new Bill is passed, the law on SEN and statements has not changed, and local authorities cannot claim that because a new system is coming in they are no longer required to carry out assessments or issue statements.
