These reports on the first two Local Area SEND inspections in Bolton and Brighton and Hove are surprisingly positive.
The Bolton report, for example, says:
- The vast majority of parents felt that their views and those of their children were listened to and that their needs were identified well and
- Co-produced plans mean that children and young people are at the heart of their education, health and care plans
And the Brighton and Hove report says:
- Children and young people who have special educational needs and/or disabilities achieve strong outcomes and their families are very well supported and
- Parents and carers comment positively about how well their children are prepared for adult life
Do you recognise these descriptions? If you live in Bolton or Brighton and Hove were you involved in the inspection? Did you know it was happening? If you have any comments please contact Afasic.
Local area SEND inspections are carried out jointly by Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission. All local authority areas will be inspected regularly so make sure you are in touch with your local networks and can get involved when your inspection is due.
