A key aspect of the Local Offer is the requirement to set out the provision the local authority expects to be made available by schools, early years and post 16 providers. In other words, you should be able to tell from the Local Offer whether or not mainstream schools, nurseries or colleges will routinely provide the help your child needs. If not, then by definition it is likely that your child will need an EHC Plan.
This new briefing, published by the Council for Disabled Children, aims to:
- Focus attention on this aspect of the Local Offer
- Report some of the progress in implementing it
- Consider why it is important and identify some of the key benefits of different approaches to implementing this requirement.
