DWP review of PIP

Contact a Family have announced that the government has agreed to an independent review looking into Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and they want to hear from you.

This is your chance to tell the government about what you think about PIP, including: The claim process; assessment; getting a decision and reconsideration and the appeal processes.

The deadline for responding to the consultation is Friday 16 September and applies to England, Wales and Scotland. You can respond via the online form or send your views by email.

It appears that the PIP system does not consider communication difficulties as having an affect on communication – particularly where Language problems are the only issue and not related to any other Learning Problems etc.. I would be interested to know if anyone has received PIP in these circumstances. For info I am currently going through the appeals process fro my 16 year old daughter.

  2. I recently had my PiP assessment 2 weeks ago. The fundamental problem was that I had to explain about “today” and didn’t take into account of the root cause of the problems I am facing today.
