Wanted!  Inclusive secondary schools and Speech and Language Therapy Teams, to support Transition to Secondary, of  Year 6 pupils.

We are seeking to identify mainstream secondary schools, especially in economically deprived areas across the UK, which could be a venue for a week’s specialist transition course for Year 6 pupils with speech, language and communication needs, during the summer holidays 2017.

This targeted course for SLCN pupils, can run alongside an existing mainstream transition programme, or other sports or cultural activities planned in the holidays.  Delivery is by local Speech and Language Therapy Teams, usually with some matched grant funding through Afasic.

This course specifically supports Ofsted requirements for SEND and inclusion and shows effective leadership across clusters, parental and pupil engagement.  It is supported by research from City, IOE and Newcastle University, using a tried and tested model.

To find out more, please watch this short film produced by the SLTs running Greenwich transition courses and see the short briefing below.  Interested? Please contact: Sue Denning.

  1. Hello,
We are planning a therapy event in the coming month, January 26th 2017 for parents/carers and professionals.

I wonder if you would like to use our platform to inform either about anything regarding SLT, your programmes or else.
    Thank you for replying back.
    Tonie

    • Hi Tonie,
Thanks so much for the offer. One of us will be in touch in the next few days to discuss further.
We would welcome other opportunities like this, so please get in touch if you are planning a similar event.
      Alison

Also would you be interested in taking part in our Secondary Starters Transition Course for your Years 6-7 pupils- in partnership with your SLT teams and a secondary school?
    Please see the briefing attached?
    Thanks
