The Bercow Ten Years On report into the state of provision for children with SLCN was published earlier this year. A petition was then set up to ask the Government to implement the recommendations in the report. The petition recently reached a total of 10 000 signatures triggering a response from the Government. You can read their initial response here and a fuller response will follow in due course.
If the petition manages to attract 100 000 signatures, this will trigger a debate in Parliament specifically on the Bercow Ten Years On report. So please sign up if you have not already done so.
In the meantime, Rebecca Pow MP recently led a Westminster Hall debate on Speech, Language and Communication Support for children. A number of other MPs attended the debate and participated in the discussion on the impact of SLCN.
Was your MP there? If not, why not contact him or her to explain about speech and language difficulties and how they affect your child’s life.
