Afasic held a very special Christmas Concert on 5th December, helping all those attending to get into the festive spirit early.
We were delighted that our Patron, HRH The Duchess of Gloucester was able to join us and although the three young adults leading the concert were extra nervous to be doing a ‘Royal Command Performance’ they did a brilliant job.
The very wonderful Sir Derek Jacobi entertained us with a reading of ‘The Boy Actor’ by Noel Coward and, not to be outdone, two pupils from Moor House School & College, Oliver Campbell and Samuel Harper did a great job with their readings.
Music for the evening was provided by the Concordia Chamber Choir, conducted by Dr Andrew Storey, along with the brilliant Jos Attenborough-Jones on piano.
We were also very pleased to have the signing choir from Moor House School & College taking part and they were great! And our thanks also goes to the organist for the evening Marcus Wibberley.
The evening was led by three young people who have benefited from the work of Afasic, Damian Quinn, Kelly White, and Justin Butcher – and what a brilliant job they did! There was lots of laughter and applause throughout the night with tremendous performances by everyone involved.
We are very grateful to all the team at St Andrew for hosting our concert once more, all our volunteers on the night and especially our volunteer photographer Greg Keeling. There were over 200 people at the event and everyone seemed to have a very enjoyable time.
