Here are some examples of how companies and employees have helped Afasic:

I’ve entered a team in the Afasic Charity Golf Day for the last four years and was impressed with their work and the key services they provide that help children and young people with SLCI reach their potential. I work for BGC and, as part of their Annual Charity Day, staff can nominate their preferred charity to receive an award. I chose to nominate Afasic and, to date, they have been awarded donations of £13,000. I’m very happy to help such a great cause! – Neil

I have volunteered with the Afasic Youth Project in Redbridge for just over a year and will soon be starting a Masters at UCL to train as a speech and language therapist. My current employers, Aberdeen Asset Management, have been very supportive of my work with Afasic and a key focus of their Charitable Foundation is giving to charities who are active within the local community. A month ago, alongside a parent representative from the Afasic Youth Project, we applied to Aberdeen’s Charitable Foundation providing details of the amazing work that is carried out at the project and the costs involved. This application led to Aberdeen making a generous donation to the Youth Project! – Lucy

Whilst working at the Economist newspaper I spent time volunteering with the Afasic youth project and loved seeing the positive impact the group had on the young people involved. I realised my employers offered a corporate giving scheme where they donated funds to Afasic on behalf of my time and they also matched funding, so when I ran a marathon and raised money, they doubled my overall donation. I am now in my first year of a pgdip in slt at Greenwich university but would not have had the drive or opportunity to come here if it had not been for Afasic. They can’t keep doing their amazing work without funding so please have a think about the company you work for as the chances are they will support employee nominations!! – Sinead

Last year I took part in a 1000km cycle ride for Afasic and raised £700 in sponsorship. I work for Glaxosmithkline and contacted the Corporate Social Responsibility team who told me about a staff fund matching scheme. I applied and was awarded £500!
This year I received another £1,000 donation when a project I was involved with received a prestigious Presidents award. The team were asked to nominate a charity to receive the donation and I seized the opportunity and nominated Afasic. – Chris
